Whananaki welcomes wreck survivors

Whananaki is rolling out the welcome mat for survivors and family of those who perished aboard the Capitaine Bougainville 50 years ago this Wednesday.

Special guests include nieces, siblings, wives and husbands of the people who lost their lives outside the entrance to the Whananaki estuary.  

Capitaine Bougainville captain Jean-Raymond Thomas is attending from France, alongside dignitaries such as MP Dr Shane Reti and Whangarei Mayor Vince Cocurullo.

The event starts at 11am Wednesday, we hope to see a good crowd at the monument.
