Even for its owner Bruce Barron, it's hard to estimate how many people have been camping at Motutara Farm over its 50+ years as (in Whananaki FM's view) the most beautiful campground in the country. The sprawling farm camp nestled between two stunning beaches was started by Bruce's parents Hugh & Lois Barron, but since 1990 Bruce and Helen have been the people welcoming back the summer masses. For the campers lucky enough to get a booking at Motutara Farm its often generational - parents, grand-parents and sometimes great-grandparents have all made the annual pilgrimage - god forbid they miss a year, because they know there's always someone else ready to snap up their spot.

As Beach Association president for 30+ years, golf club president, first responder and local firefighter, Bruce has been at the forefront of community life in Whananaki. Now, as he steps back from the camp and son Daniel steps forward, we talk to Bruce about his life and the Whananaki he loves.
